The long awaited Easter holidays are here!
For the more religious ones, it’s a time to reflect on how Jesus died for their sins & resurrected from the dead. For the working class, it’s usually that short break they needed!
So, what are your plans for Easter 2017? No idea? Let’s help you!
Whether you’re a child, couple, family, individual, we have some suggestions so you can maximise your Easter break the most fun way possible!
Easter Carols and Prayers
Your faith is why this Easter break holds, so do it justice by going to Church this Easter! All through the week, Churches have been and are still presenting Easter Carols and other activities such as overnight prayers. Go sing along to choruses and pray at your local church or any in Kampala as friends or family.
Go to Church
Like Christmas, on Easter, the numbers that go to churches are tripled or even quadrupled every year! Even the ones that aren’t so religious believe that Easter is a time when one needs to show face at church and repent of their sins. For an uplifting service experience, all churches in Kampala have regular services, choir performances and shows. You can attend Christmas Service at Churches all over Kampala like St. Paul’s Cathedral, Namirembe, Rubaga Cathedral, Watoto Church, and Munyonyo Martyrs Shrine among others.
Spoil yourselves, eat out!
We know Easter is most defined as ‘family time’ but well, it’ a suggestion! You could take out your family, friend or significant other to a beautiful restaurant/hotel for lunch. Visit places like Kampala Sheraton Hotel, Kampala Serena Hotel, Biryani House, Fair way Hotel et cetera(visit our food and dinning section for more options) The city offers a range of different hotels /restaurants to suit your requirements. And after your meal, you can enjoy the breeze, subtle music and drinks that follow with the children playing around in the gardens. There’s so much activity in many spots in Kampala, so, feel free to indulge.
Easter Picnic and Egg Hunt
What’s Easter without the Egg Hunt? So, why not add a twist to your Easter Celebrations this year? Get your picnic basket, pack all your board games, playing cards, family, friends, coloured eggs, snacks, drinks and do an Easter picnic. Move closer to the shores of the largest African freshwater lake, Victoria at Common Wealth Resort Gardens or Jahaz Pier in Munyonyo. Or you could use the Jubilee Park at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel or Uganda museum as your Picnic grounds for an alternative! So, let the games begin-hide the eggs for the children in the grasses and while they look you enjoy the breeze, sip at your drink and play your games!
No doubt Kampala is a beautiful place! And if you can’t justify why, then let your Easter be more adventurous! Get out and about in Kampala during the short Easter Holidays with a variety of unbelievable splendour on many of the Capital’s most popular attractions. The hills on which most of the prayer houses sit offer great architectural, historical experiences and give an incredible view of the city. A visit and an experience of the service will not only offer value for money but also provide complete spiritual fulfilment. So, why not take your family to some of the exciting sites around? You can also visit the Kasubi Royal Tombs, the Kabaka’s lake, the remarkable Bahai Temple (good for pictures too) Uganda Museum, the Entebbe Zoo and so many others. It’s a good way to unwind especially after heavy Easter meals as family, friends or even when with your lover!
Stretch further than Kampala
If you are the more exploratory kind, go further than Kampala for a change of scenery. There’s lots of amazing places few miles from Kampala that will leave you yearning for more. Visit Entebbe (45mins away), here you shall have a variety of options right from the sandy and tasty ‘fish full’ beaches, islands, Zoo especially for the Kids and lots more! Or you could travel to Jinja (an hour’s drive), the City of the Nile…There are amazing attractions there too, the Nile, activities like Quad biking, Horseback riding and oh, the adrenaline pumping Bungee Jumping!
